System Requirements

The performance of your computer system depends on many things: the operating system, the processor, the amount of RAM, the speed of the hard drive, etc. The following are the minimum requirements for InPhase.

Operating System

The InPhase Technologies Group practice management software requires Windows 2000 or higher.
Recommended operating systems are Windows 2000, XP Pro, Vista Business or Vista Ultimate. These operating systems are better suited for a network environment.

Processor

In theory, the software will run on any processor that will run a 32-bit operating system. In practice however, it is recommended that you have a Pentium III® or higher. Processor speeds can have a great impact on areas that require calculations. The minimum recommended speed is 500mhz – faster would give you a little more breathing room.

RAM

The amount of ram needed is going to depend on several factors: Operating System, other applications running, etc.

Windows 2000 - minimum 128MB recommended 512MB or more
Windows XP - minimum 256MB recommended 512MB or more
Windows Vista - minimum 1GB recommended 2GB or more

It has been our experience within our office that Vista requires a lot of memory to function at a decent speed.

Hard Disk

The program as it stands now will require approximately 500 megabytes of hard disk space. However, the nature of a computer is such that as a hard drive fills up, it runs exponentially slower. For this reason, we would prefer that you have a 10 gigabyte hard drive or larger. No matter what size hard drive you have, you should always try to keep the available disk space to at least 30% or 40%. Finally, the speed of the hard drive is the most common bottleneck for computers running data intensive programs. Even if you have a Pentium III running at 800mhz with 128 MB of RAM, if you have a slow hard drive your computer will spend its day waiting really fast for the data it needs.

Network/Modem

Our software will run properly on any system that can handle the Microsoft Jet Engine. This includes most PC based systems including Microsoft networking, Novell, Etc. Finally, though it will run on slower networks, we recommend running networks with higher rates such as T100. Note: We do not recommend running the software over a wireless network.

You will also need internet access or a modem for electronic claim filing.

Final Thoughts

Through the years, we have learned that most of the problems our clients run into stem from equipment that was either custom built or built in small numbers. You will usually save money in the end by investing in a computer that is mass-produced: such as Dell, Gateway, or HP/Compaq.
